This project required me to look into the topic of waste and our environment and explore the question “Can a localised product or system work to both liberate our environment from post-consumer plastic and change the way consumers perceive the material?”
Plastic isn’t degradable and where ever it ends up it can last for years. Right now, it is in our oceans and environment, choking and leeching into our wildlife and eventually, into us.
Why not harness this free material, and embed it in a product that not only embodies a social and environmental message, but positively impacts the community through, small scale, locally based initiative and design.
This project is an ongoing, representing here, my processing technique and the potential that waste plastics have as a recycled material. My future experimentation will work to standardize a system applied to hand crafted products.
